Frederick, also known as Dinesh Phadnis, was born on November 2, 1966, in Bihar. He attended primary school in Bihar before moving to Mumbai, where he completed his high school education at Chogle High School in Sri Krishna Nagar, Borivali East.
After completing high school, he pursued his graduation in mechanical engineering in Mumbai, although the specific college is unknown. Frederick successfully graduated, marking a significant milestone in his academic journey.
Throughout his educational endeavours, Frederick demonstrated a commitment to learning and a passion for mechanical engineering. His formative years in both Bihar and Mumbai contributed to the foundation of skills and knowledge that would later shape his career.
Dinesh Phadnis’s Career-
Dinesh Phadnis embarked on his acting career in both television shows and movies. Notably, he became a household name through the immensely popular TV series “CID,” where he portrayed the role of Inspector Fredericks from 1998 to 2018. In the year 2000, he took on the character of Sub Inspector Fredericks in “CID Special Bureau.”
His television journey expanded as he appeared in various shows, including “Adalat” in 2012 and “Tarak Mehta Koltrajisma” in 2014, where he reprised his role as Frederick from CID. Additionally, he showcased his acting skills in the 2000 ”Mela” and 2019 in “CIF” as Constable Sambhu Tawde. In the 2001 film “Officer,” he played the role of an inspector.
Beyond his on-screen presence, Dinesh Phadnis displayed his versatility by writing episodes for “CID” and contributing to Marathi films. His multifaceted career in both television and movies has solidified his place as a respected and accomplished figure.

Dinesh Phadnis’s death-
The very popular show CID, renowned since 1988, faced a tragic loss as one of its actors, Dinesh Phadnis, passed away on 5th November 2023, around 12:00 am. According to reports, he suffered a heart attack and was admitted to Thunga Hospital in Mumbai. Placed in the ICU on a ventilator, he received intensive medical care, but his health continued to deteriorate. Unfortunately, the 5th of November marked his last day.
Dayanand Chandrashekhar Shetty, his closest friend and fellow CID actor, “Daya,” confirmed his death, stating that he left us at 12:08 am. The funeral took place in Daulat Nagar, Mumbai.
Dinesh’s departure is a profound loss for the CID community, and for those of us who grew up watching him on CID, his role will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We offer our prayers for him to rest in peace.
